They are definitely not pre-installed apps. They are apps that I purchased from the Amazon parked such as ES File Explorer, Ponyland, etc. I can click on the icon, long press so that a check mark appears, and click on Uninstall. After that, I get a message that the app can't be uninstalled because it isn't downloaded but the icon still stays on the bottom half of my Home screen. I have turned off all advertising and offers so I should only see what is downloaded.Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Type “adb shell” and hit enter to open the shell. Type “pm list packages” and hit enter to see a list of apps installed on the tablet. Once you’ve found an app you want to remove, type “pm uninstall -k –user 0 packagename” where packagename is the name of the package you want to install. Launch Norton Security from your Apps. Agree to terms and press continue, this will start scanning your device and ensure your Firestick, Fire TV, or Android Device is free of Torjans and Viruses that may steal your information.
After registering my new Fire, I did select the option to back up and restore from my previous tablet. Could that have caused the issue? I'm having a similar problem on my HD 8, only with apps I use all the time. The icons have a little black shadow around them and if I click to open them it tells me the SD card they were downloaded to isn't present and to redownload the app.I've never owned an SD card.Uninstalling doesn't remove the icons. And reinstalling doesn't add a new icon to the home screen or make what is there usable. If I go to the library and scroll down to the app i can use the OPEN button to access it, but that kind of defeats the purpose of a home screen. I'm having exactly the same problem. Try to delete a non-preloaded app, get the 'not on the SD card' message (no card ever installed).
I can uninstall from the apps library by 'Remove from device', but it leaves a greyed out icon on the home screen. When you touch the icon, it says 'app not installed'.li can reinstall the app, which then works fine, but trying to uninstall gives me the same result.Tried the sync and power cycle - didn't work for me. It's not a problem that bricks my kindle, but it's annoying.Fire HD 8, 7th generation. OS version 5.6.0.0.

Allow your Amazon box to install apps from unknown sources. I installed version 17.3 yesterday on both my firestick and my firetv and noticed my adult movies are gone. Also missing is exodus, tinklepad, and other apps as well. I’ve looked all over it and can’t find them. This latest update has royally screwed me. Last night, i tried to watch breaking bad season 2the buffers were giving me hellstopping starting many times whereas i fixed my 16.3 version and it never did it again.
I also noticed this new version will not let me see certain episodes of breaking bad. Don’t know why but never had that problem with 16.3 version.
Right now.kodi sucks. The latest update to 17.3 really sucks. Won’t work on my firetv at all and there is no way to go back to the former 16.3 version. My firestick works but has lots of problems too. Thankskodi updatersfor ruining my system.
